| ICR was initiated by the International Society of Radiology (ISR) which is a world organization of diagnostic radiology and confederation of national radiology societies. Since its first congress held in 1925, ICR has dedicated its constant efforts to the communication among radiologists and their societies from various countries as well as to the improvement of scientific and technical expertise within the radiological field. The 26th ICR chose the theme of ¡®Better Radiology, Better Healthcare¡¯ because of the World Expo 2010 which is also held in Shanghai just now. Better radiology should be one of the most important components of the better medicine and better city. We hope better radiology pushed by radiologists and their societies from various countries would provide people with better healthcare and then better life. |
Shanghai is China's most comprehensive industrial and commercial city, ranking the first in population and population density. As a tourist city, it attracts travelers from both home and abroad by its commercial activity rather than scenic beauty. With a history of more than 700 years, Shanghai was once the financial center of the Far East regions. Since the reforms that began in 1990s, great changes have taken place in the city. The municipal government is working towards building Shanghai into a modern metropolis and into a world economic, financial, trading and shipping center by 2020. |
